The Sunnyvale Eichler Tracts

Sunnyvale is the second-largest Eichler city after Palo Alto: roughly 1,100 homes across sixteen tracts — Sunnyvale Manor among his earliest work around 1949–50, then Fairbrae, Fairwood, Midtown and more through the 1950s and 60s, drawing on all three of his architecture firms.

The neighborhoods take preservation seriously: between 2015 and 2017, tracts covering roughly 287 homes won single-story overlay rezonings that ban new second stories — a homeowner-driven defense of the low-slung streetscape.

Sunnyvale Eichlers have historically been the value entry to the Peninsula Eichler market relative to Palo Alto, with the same architects and the same bones.
