Terra Linda was Eichler's first big move into Marin — and more than a tract, it was the launch of a community: he built roughly 900 homes across Terra Linda North and South between 1955 and 1961, with the schools, pools and shopping planned alongside the houses.
The valley setting gives Terra Linda something the Peninsula tracts don't have — hills on both sides, and Marin's open-space trail network starting at the end of the cul-de-sacs. North (about 630 homes, 1955–56 and 1959–61) and South (about 220, 1958–60) each have their own character and model years.
